• A Ketogenic diet is life changing! I just want to shout it from the roof tops! If only people knew that the solution to their health problems and weight gain was right at their finger tips.

    A Ketogenic diet is a high fat, moderate protein, low-carb way of eating. The GOAL of a Ketogenic diet is to get your body into a metabolic state called Nutritional Ketosis. When your body is in a state of Ketosis it is no longer burning glucose for fuel. It is burning BODY FAT for fuel. Yes- you are burning your own body fat for energy instead of glucose/sugar.

    You become a fat burner -vs- a sugar burner.

    When implementing a Keto diet you should be avoiding trans fat, refined fats, and refined oils. You are also avoiding ALL grains, legumes, milk, some fruits, and all processed foods and sugars.

    You ARE eating a diet rich in healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, seeds, eggs, and avocado/coconut oils. Your protein will come from chicken, fish, beef, steak, and pork (Grass-fed if possible), and then the majority of your carbs come from veggies, nuts, and berries.

    Added plus- Keto is naturally gluten free too!

    Your body was DESIGNED to eat this way! STOP putting processed grains and foods into your system!

    Sadly, we have been drilled time and time again that we need to be eating a low fat diet full of whole grains and vegetables. Well… the vegetable part is correct but the rest is junk.

    You see, the food industry and the Big Pharma companies don’t want you to discover or try the Keto diet. They will say ANYTHING to try and discredit it. They are so closely tied to the media ($$) that they have them dish out false facts and scare tactics. They REALLY don’t want people with diabetes, high cholesterol, autoimmune diseases, and other various forms of health conditions to find out about the Keto diet. If these people discover that they can potentially solve their health conditions with a diet, then there goes millions, if not billions of dollars on Statins, Metformin, and other pharmaceuticals they’re dishing out like candy.

    Let me calm your fears. The Keto Diet does NOT clog your arteries and it does NOT cause heart disease. Let me tell you what DOES cause these things- SUGAR! Yes, that yummy addictive substance we all love is causing heart disease, diabetes, leaky gut, and so much more.

    Speaking of heart disease and clogged arteries…. Lets have a quick lesson on cholesterol and why Keto HELPS and doesn’t harm:

    When you have your blood tested yearly at the doctor they’re looking at multiple things but lets focus in on your cholesterol since that’s the big red flag people throw around with Keto. You have your HDL (“good cholesterol”) and your LDL (“bad cholesterol”). Keto can increase your cholesterol, yes, but in a GOOD way. You see, your HDL is your proactive cholesterol, it helps filter out the “bad” cholesterol. The higher the HDL the better- Keto makes your HDL higher. Now the LDL- known as the “villain” cholesterol- because doctors say if your LDL is high that your risk for heart disease increases greatly, this is true and then again, it’s not true. There are TWO types of LDL floating around in your body. Pattern A and Pattern B- these patterns refer to the size of the cholesterol particles. Pattern A is a large fluffy like particle and Pattern B is a small dense particle. Imagine a volleyball net- if you throw a large soccer ball at the net, it can’t fit through the holes. If you throw a small bouncy ball at the net it WILL go through a hole.

    The net is your ARTERIES and the ball is your CHOLESTEROL. You want the soccer ball.

    Large amounts of Pattern A LDL is good- it cannot get trapped and clogged in your arteries. Large amounts of Pattern B LDL is bad- they’re small and CAN get clogged into your arteries.

    So how do they go from big fluffy particles to small dense particles? SUGAR!!! (Carbs turn to sugar in the body- in turn making them bad as well). SUGAR OXIDIZES THE LDL PARTICLES SHRINKING THEM and making them the BAD LDL PATTERN B particles that get clogged in your arteries and CAUSE HEART DISEASE!

    So there ya have it folks- FAT does not clog your arteries- SUGAR DOES!

    Now one last thing that drives me nuts is when I hear people say that your body needs carbs ( FYI- there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate, you are brainwashed!) but even more so when I hear people say that you need carbs for weight lifting, working out, exercise, ect.

    HOLY COW- NO you don’t!!! KETONES ARE MUSCLE SPARING! You will not lose muscle on a Ketogenic Diet UNLESS you aren’t eating enough protein. If anything it has HELPED me build muscle and become more defined. I will be honest- there IS a transition phase where you will lose strength as your body adjusts but it is so worth the small setback.

    Okay so moving on. Lets take a look at some of the conditions a Ketogenic diet has helped:
